Whereas the four classes of anti-HIV drugs mentioned earlier act against HIV while it is reproducing in a CD4 cell, entry inhibitors are designed to prevent HIV from entering a CD4 cell in the first place.The entry inhibitor is a drug specifically designed to fit between the HIV particle and the point of the CD4 cell to which it needs to bind to gain entry and therefore prevent this happening.
